let it be publicly declared, operation summer body has begun. allbeit 6 months late, but started nonetheless. and it is not fun. maybe the effects will be recognizeable just in time to eat them all away in the cafeteria next summer. =)
also, while unrelated to operation summer body, i would also ask you to please enjoy the video below. found & fully enjoyed in all its weirdness by the booth sisters during my time at home.

Especially for Youth report Especially for You...
EFY...Four weeks of my summer break has been spent at EFY. And really, it is the best summer job i could have ever asked for. Never a dull moment, and the time passedd so quickly. Spending so much time learning & teaching the gospel...lovely in every way. To be surround by so many excellent people was such a blessing. To remember what it was like to attend EFY, and to have the experience of being a counselor what fabulous. I can't wait to do it all again next summer.

It started a bit rocky. My EFY career started at UC Santa Barbara, in the lovely Santa Barbara, CA. Stayed up until 3 AM the night before downloading music for all my summer travels and then began to get frantic I had not yet learned or summoned any desire to learn the EFY line dances. Slept in an hour later than planned and left the house in a rush. Sang & danced in my car all the way to Santa Barbara, where my yahoo directions led me astray a bit.
After a few u-turns and about 2o minutes of wandering the UCSB campus I found the residence halls. I drive in in a rush, running late, a bit flustered and wearing the clothes I went to sleep in the night before, to find a tall good-looking guy getting something out of his car, which was parked directly to my right. Hmmm. I think I'm going to like Santa Barbara.

I go inside planning to move in after the training that was supposed to start in 5 minutes. A cute brunette girl tells me that they are running late and that I'll have time to unpack. So I go and begin lugging my stuff to my room. There I find out, much to my surprise, I would be sharing a room. Sweet. So much for putting that newly purchased yoga video to good use. Oh well. I'm sure the food will be SO bad in the cafeteria that my staying away from a gym for the next 5 weeks will hardly be noticed. Such was not the case. (Sidenote: I recently arrived home to find that I need to temporarily retire 15 pairs of pants. Boo. GB +DLG = the most I've ever weighed in my life and my gym membership being even more valuable than ever before.)
this is the blessed DLG that is good enough to be mentioned in Jack Johnson songs.

I may come back and edit & add to these highlights as I remember things. I may not. I planned on life settling down, at least for a minute or two, once I got home. Relaxing, enjoying what was left of my summer before getting back into the classroom. Not so. School starts Friday and I have to write out plans for a new curriculum. But, let it be said via cyberspace and blogger.com I'm SO grateful for the opportunity I had to work at EFY this summer.
The leadership was excellent. The lessons were piercing, and my understanding seemed to be accelerated. The counselors were outstanding and many left me in awe of their rock solidness. To know that there are so many, good, sweet, wonderfully darling, outgoing, talented, driven, strong 20-somethings that aren't social wierdos makes me want to say, "Gooooooooo Mormons!" The kids were great...my interactions with them left me with an increased desire to do what Heavenly Father wants. EFY in general has just made me want to "be a little better," as President Hinckley always says. To live in a way that would please Him. To laugh. To try to be an example to those around me. To be positive. To serve. To love. To go above and beyond. To share the gospel every day, and when necessary, to use words.
Sign me up for next summer. =)
