hey ms booth. hows it goin?--dear teenager. one i never had as a student. he had his hat backwards, sunglasses, grill in and pacing the lot...

oh how i already miss them.

i picked up the last of my things today, and then blew a kiss goodbye to my old classroom. the only thing i got in return was an eery quiet hum of my empty classroom. it was a strange, slow motion sadness.

Awesome suggestions needed....

As some of you know, I"m starting at a new school (in a week, actually) and I'm working on revamping the Independent Living Skills curriculum. Because there are no state requirements, I can basically teach whatever I see fit. (awesome, i know) As I'm planning, though, I just wanted some of your input. What are things you wish you would have learned (or did learn) in high school before you headed off to college? A few ideas I've come up with so far are:

Food Preparation
Sewing
Child Development
Parenting
First Aid
Communication
Relationships
Effects of Tobacco & Alcohol
Resume Writing
Car Maintenance
Apartment Hunting
Budgeting
Money Management
Interior Design
Health & Wellness

Any other thoughts of cool ideas or projects? I'm looking mostly for real-life scenario projects. For example...they will get to search for apartments, be a parent to a mechanical baby, create a budget, create a menu & grocery shop for two weeks...etc etc etc.

The class is a year long, and is limited to seniors & juniors.

Anyways, any ideas or input you have would be greatly appreciated. Please comment below or email them to itsjustjackie@gmaill.com...

thanks millions. =)
